Temporary Road Closures

Herts County Council has issued advance notification of temporary closing of;

  • Gaddesden Lane, Redbourn - please see these details and map.
  • London Road and Old Watling Street, Markyate - please see these details.
  • Friendless Lane, Flamstead - please see these details and map.
  • Various local roads - please see these details and map.

A5 Markyate Resurfacing Works

The Highways Agency will be carrying out resurfacing to the A5 at the Markyate crossroads on the following dates:

  • 12 May to 15 May between 9.30 am and 3.30 pm.
  • 19 May to 23 May between 8 pm and 6 am.
  • 2 June to 4 June between 8 pm and 6 am.
There will be no weekend working.
From 19 May temporary traffic signals will control the flow of traffic in each direction.

Police Report

Details shown separately, it was stressed that caution should be adopted when using credit cards to avoid fraud and identity theft.

Luton Airport

The new NATS proposals for flight plans in the area are favourable to the village, with a much lower noise signature. Support from Villagers is required to complement the PC's response accepting these proposals. A leaflet will be available.

Bollards and Priory Orchard

A very helpful proposal has been received from the 3 Blackbirds on this topic; discussions are ongoing on this and as to parking restrictions near the road corners and the associated planning regulations.

Highways

The flooding at Jacks Dell (Delmerend lane), will be attended to in mid April.

A5 Junction: the petition in respect of the A5 Junction has been presented to our MP, Mike Penning.

Neighbourhood Watch

No response had been received to the request for a Co-ordinator. This post needs to be filled as soon a possible.

IT

In spite of a failure, the website has been re-established. The free websites are still being reviewed.

Village Hall

Car park drainage: a quotation is being sought.

Care of the Elderly

Responses to the questionnaire (to ascertain their specific needs) have been received, and co-ordination with the PCT is in hand.

Street lighting

2 failed lights have been reported to our contractor for replacement.

Warden

Peter is now 'back on the strength'; we shall adjust his task schedule to prevent his keenness generating further problems.

The Annual Parish Meeting

The agenda was agreed to include a Presentation on the Luton Airport Situation.
